DuraPost Galvanised Steel Post System

If you have noticed a white powder build up (sometimes referred to as white rust) on the surface of your Galvanised DuraPost, it is nothing to worry about.

The white powder on the surface is oxidation. This is a natural reaction of the zinc coating when the product has been stored stacked together and has been in contact with water when there is no air circulation to dry. The zinc coating produces white oxidation to protect the steel. This is called “self-sacrifice”.
